Many times, despite our best intentions and strength of resolve, external triggers push our buttons and we find ourselves saying and doing things that are frustrating. It might feel like you are living in the Disney movie “Inside Out”, with anger, sadness, or fear running the show. In those moments it is natural for us to feel critical of ourselves:


  • Why can’t I just pull it together?

  • Why do I always let this person push my buttons?

  • I can’t believe I’m responding like this again - I promised this time would be different.

  • Maybe my mother was right - I am a drama queen.

  • This is why I’ll never be able to lose weight - one little thing and suddenly I’m eating the whole bag of chips.

  • I’m going to screw up my kids because I can’t get control of myself.

  • Maybe I’m just not cut out for leadership at work - I always lose confidence in myself.


Despite your desire to grow and have healthy ways of relating to the world around you, you feel stuck, thinking that maybe you just aren’t capable of change.

A few years ago I realized that I was stuck on my growth journey. I was tired of dealing with the same triggering situations and people over and over again. This made me feel like an imposter as a therapist - how could I possibly help people when I was struggling myself?


The truth is, the path to growth is complicated and hard for all of us, no matter how many books we’ve read or degrees we hold. We all need someone to be “in it” with us and give us judgment-free space to process our thoughts and feelings.


We also need someone who is trained to help us build skills to operate in new ways. Therapy shouldn’t just be a place to rehash your feelings - it should help you move forward in real, tangible ways. 


As I considered why I felt stuck on my growth journey, I realized that I needed a fresh investment in my own mental and emotional health. I found a therapist trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and began seeing change in my personal life. Now, I’m helping my clients do the same by integrating IFS methods into my practice.

What will my sessions be like?

We all have parts of us who try really hard to be the right kind of people and do the right things, and they try to protect us from negative outcomes. And, often, they end up working against us. 


In your sessions with me, I will help you connect with these parts of yourself and understand why you do what you do. I want you to be able to access underlying feelings in a way that’s not overwhelming and helps you move forward with insight, clarity, and confidence.


And, I always provide judgment-free space for you to show up, just as you are. My goal isn’t to “fix” you, but to help you explore what is happening internally so you can be empowered to operate in self-energy.
